A story of success in exile..
"I was six when my family fled Tibet. My parents were farmers, and when they arrived in exile, they had nothing—no money, no connections, no skills they could use to make a living. But they knew how to bake Tibetan bread. So that’s what they did. They started selling it on the streets of McLeod Ganj. It became so popular that even the local Indians gave my father a name—‘Bale Baba,’ which means ‘Tibetan Bread Father.’
Years later, our family opened a restaurant in Thailand called The Tibet Gate. It’s more than just a business. Every evening, we showcase traditional Tibetan dances. Whenever we get the chance, we share our culture with our customers.
I feel a responsibility to do this—not just as a business owner, but as a Tibetan. We all have to contribute in whatever way we can. It doesn’t have to be big. Every small effort counts.”
