5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes Tibet’s Shigaste

DHARAMSHALA, May 12: A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck Shigatse, in Southern Tibet early Monday morning, according to the China Earthquake Administration (CEA). The tremor occurred at 5:11 a.m. local time at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

Emergency response teams have been dispatched to the affected area, and no casualties have been reported so far, the CEA said in a statement.
