Australia and New Zealand have issued a firm joint statement expressing deep concern over the erosion of fundamental freedoms in Tibet. Following the 2026 ANZMIN 2+2 consultations in Canberra, foreign and defense ministers highlighted the systematic decline of religious, cultural, and linguistic rights within the region. By aligning their diplomatic stance with the United States and European Union, both nations underscored a commitment to international human rights standards. This high-level strategic meeting reinforces a coordinated Pacific response to regional instability, signaling that cultural preservation remains a top priority for Canberra and Wellington’s foreign policy.
