Spanning more than three decades, the book offers an intimate glimpse into the Dalai Lama's public and private life—including his travels, rituals such as the Kālacakra sand mandala in Ladakh, and quiet moments of solitude. We joined Manuel Bauer at his book launch event in Zurich, Switzerland, on March 2, 2025, to talk about the book and what makes photographing the Tibetan spiritual leader so special.
