Czech President Petr Pavel meets Dalai Lama, Tibetan leaders in Ladakh, affirms support for Tibet cause

DHARAMSHALA, July 28: Czech Republic President Petr Pavel met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Sunday morning in Leh, Ladakh. This marks the first time a sitting head of state has travelled to India specifically to meet the Tibetan spiritual leader.

President Pavel was accompanied by a high-level delegation that included Czech Ambassador to India Dr. Eliska Zigova, Deputy Head of Mission Kateřina Petersen, and other senior officials. The meeting took place at Shiwa Tsel Phodrang, where the Czech President extended warm congratulations to His Holiness on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
