His arrival was met with joyous chants and a heartfelt welcome from the people of Zanskar. Shortly after landing, His Holiness inaugurated a newly built Phodrang (residence) at the Karsha Monastery and addressed a large gathering. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preserving Buddhist traditions through study and debate, acknowledging the destruction of Tibetan Buddhism in Tibet by China, and praising the efforts of Tibetan exiles and the people of Zanskar in continuing the lineage. His Holiness also observed the ongoing Yarchos Chenmo (Great Summer Dharma Symposium). According to organizers, His Holiness will continue with his planned schedule. Tomorrow, he is set to grant a private audience to over 70 elderly Zanskar residents, followed by a Long-Life Prayer Offering and Ghoton day after.
