DHARAMSHALA, June 13: A global coalition of over 147 Tibet-related rights groups has issued an urgent joint appeal to G7 leaders to take urgent, coordinated action to defend Tibetan religious freedoms, particularly in light of China’s growing interference in Tibetan Buddhism and the succession of the 14th Dalai Lama.
Addressed to the heads of government of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States as well as the presidents of the European Commission and European Council the letter comes ahead of the 51st G7 Leaders’ Summit, which will be held in Canada from June 15 to 17 this year.
