At the height of his monastic career in Lhasa, he renounced his vows, worked at radio service in Delhi, married, and moved to Switzerland in 1960 to care for Tibetan refugee orphans displaced after 1959. His family recently released his 17-volume Collected Works in December 2025 on his 100th birth anniversary. We sat down with his son, Wangpo Tethong, and his nephew, Tenzin Namgyal Tethong, to reflect on rinpoche’s life, legacy, and enduring contributions to Tibetan scholarship and refugee education in Switzerland.
