On this day, October 6, 2009, His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama was awarded the "Tom Lantos Human Rights Prize" by the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice in Washington, D.C.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama was the inaugural recipient of the award.
In recognition of;
* His unflinching advocate of non-violent reconciliation
* His voice to the aspirations of all humanity for a life of dignity, justice and
respect
* Advancing the cause of human rights in every corner of the world.
