Tibetan Official Dismissed and Arrested Over “Loss of Faith” Under China’s Expanding Religious Repression

In yet another case reflecting Beijing’s tightening control and discrimination against Tibetans’ basic rights, according to Tibet Times, a senior Tibetan official, Tenzin, former deputy director of the Qinghai Provincial Forestry and Grassland Department, has been dismissed and arrested on politically motivated charges of “violating party discipline” and “losing faith in the Communist Party.”

The Qinghai Provincial Disciplinary Inspection Commission announced Tenzin’s expulsion from the Communist Party of China (CPC), citing vague and ideological accusations such as “loss of dreams and faith,” “engaging in religious activities,” and “violating moral discipline.” His personal property has also been confiscated by the authorities.
