According to Reuters, rescue operations in Tibet have concluded after a powerful blizzard trapped nearly 1,000 trekkers on the eastern slope of Mount Everest. The snowfall began on October 4, blocking roads around the Karma valley at elevations above 4,200 meters. Local rescuers and villagers cleared access routes, guiding hundreds to safety. By October 7, about 200 remaining trekkers were evacuated. The storm coincided with China’s National Day holiday. Heavy rain also struck nearby Nepal, where landslides and floods killed at least 47 people since Friday, local police reported.
