Xi Jinping has ordered all-out rescue efforts after a mudslide hit the China-Nepal border area in Tibet, leaving people missing and causing heavy casualties.

According to The Kathmandu Post, rescue efforts are actively underway, with at least 25 people rescued as of Wednesday afternoon.

Across the border, Tibet reported "major casualties" with people missing in the neighbouring county of Gyirong.

The flood in Rasuwa - an area north of Kathmandu bordering Tibet - is feared to have swept away villages.
